At first, many of them thought they would never master the skills they were being taught.
A lot were ashamed about the lack of knowledge they had and how far behind their children they felt they were.
But after 10 weeks, 21 parents and adult members of the Te Ara Whanui whānau graduated with a wide range of new computer skills – and a free computer to take home.
Dallas Olsen, a graduate, who had struggled with technology:
‘‘After a couple of lessons I thought ‘gee,I can do this’.”
