The 2020 Trust’s Computers in Homes is in The Warehouse’s Customer Choice at thirteen stores. Shoppers vote for one of three neighborhood community organisations. After six months funds raised are given to each community organisation, split according to their percentage votes.
This funding will let us include more families from each store’s area in Computers in Homes, adding to the Ministry of Education support for 1,500 families nationwide.
Your vote WILL help local families! Voting is proportional, not first-past-the-post…
There’s a strong need in each area, with between 400 and 3,000 families with school aged children and no home internet. Internet and digital skills learnt in Computers in Homes training helps all in the family household in many ways:
- used for homework research
- stronger family and home-school relationships
- better employment prospects
- engagement in further education and
- easier access to healthcare information
Programme graduates have gone on to get jobs, become qualified nurses, write books and take degrees – all opportunities that seemed out of their reach before.
